Police capture six suspected militants

In an operation carried out by the Istanbul Police Anti-Terrorism Department, a total of six people were taken into custody. Four of those held were detained on charges of aiding and abetting the two suspects alleged to have carried out the series of killings in the eastern Turkish provinces of Sivas and Ordu. The two were described in a police statement as being members of a separatist terrorist organisation, a term usually used to refer to the outlawed group the PKK/KADEK/CONGRE-GEL.
During the operations in Istanbul, police also confiscated explosives and other equipment.
