PM Erdogan: "we will support CHP"

Prime Minister Erdogan returned to Turkey after completing his three-day visit to Iran.

Replying questions of journalists aboard the plane on his way back from Iran to Turkey, Prime Minister Erdogan said about Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc’s call to hold an emergency session of the parliament on August 4, 2004 to debate the censure motion of the CHP against the Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim following last week’s train crash, "we are not against the request of the CHP. On the contrary, we will support it."

Upon a question about his talks with Iranian officials on the terrorist organization PKK/KONGRA-GEL, Prime Minister Erdogan said that Iran had acknowledged PKK/KONGRA-GEL as a terrorist organization.

Replying another question about the United States’ attitude about natural gas negotiations between Turkey and Iran, Prime Minister Erdogan said, "we have not received any official document from the United States in this regard. These are nothing but rumors. We have been exerting great efforts to further strengthen our economic, political and commercial relations with our neighbors. We believe that these initiatives are necessary to maintain peace in the region."
