PM Erdogan asks Annan to name Cyprus mediator

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday he had asked UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to appoint a mediator trusted by both sides to resolve the Cyprus dispute.

Erdogan told journalists after meeting Annan at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the UN chief had agreed to consider appointing a mediator.
