Parliament will say the last word on Cyprus

"The parliament will say the last word. A voting will be held at parliament as the last step," Gul said in response to a question about whether would be any constitutional problem related with parliament’s approval for agreement to be reached at the end of Cyprus talks.

Speaking to reporters prior to his departure to Kuwait, Gul said that the agreement to be reached at the end of talks to start in Cyprus on February 19 would come onto parliament’s agenda in the very end.

When asked if the voting would take place in parliament after a referendum in Cyprus, Gul said, "the issue will come onto agenda of parliament as a last step. I don’t know about domestic law of Greece. They may take up the issue before or after if their domestic law allows. But, under our Constitution, the parliament will say the final word."

Gul stated that everything would be open and transparent in Cyprus issue, adding, "nothing can be secret in such a national issue."
