Parents divide on HIV-carrier student
Parents are blasting on the decision that allowed the HIV-carrier boy to back his class under supervision of a nurse and a guide teacher. “We, as parents, do not let anybody gamble with our children’s health. Any health institution does not have a right to load responsibility for any unreversable decision to our children,” told Remziye Ă–zcelik, the mouthpiece of parents, as speaking on behalf of 29 parents in the garden of the school. “We will not send our children to the school until a satisfactory solution is achieved,” she added.
HIV-carrier boy’s family kept their distance to the decision. Nazif Oyal, the boy’s father, told he welcomed the decision of authorities but his concerns has not removed yet. “The future will reveal whether he will continue his school. We will closely watch his situation and apply to a psychologist,” told father. Nese Oyal, the boy’s mother, told she herself would take the boy to school as usual. “I have to move as if nothing happened because everything impact him easily,” mother told.
Turkish authorities do not know what to do against reactions by the student guards. Izmir Governor Yusuf Ziya Goksu called the parents to keep their calm pending the clarification of the contraversial matter. Goksu said they were seeking a solution which will not cause anxiety for the parents.
“To exclude this child who was tainted the disease out of his willpower is not a humanitarian act,” told National Education Minister Huseyin Celik pending his arrival to Istanbul. >BR>
Oyal family will apply to European Human Rights Court if their HIV-carrier child does not allow to continue his class with his coevals. The couple says there are more 12 HIV-carrier Turkish students whose identities are known by family and teachers.
Now HIV-carrier boy is expected to back his class at the beginning of the coming week…
