Papadopoulos may not attend quartet Cyprus talks either

NICOSIA (AA) – The Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos is reported to think of the possibility of not attending the quartet negotiations to be held in Switzerland if the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas decides not to participate to the talks.

According to the reports in the Greek Cypriot media, the Greek Cyprus administration thinks that the TRNC premier Mehmet Ali Talat cannot represent the Turkish Cypriot society and for this reason prefers President Denktas to go to Switzerland.

Stating that the level of the negotiations should not be changed and should be kept at the leaders level, Greek Cypriot administration spokesman Kipros Hrisostomidis said, “If one of the two leaders decides not to carry out negotiations, then the factors would change and problems would emerge in terms of the characteristics of the peace talks.”
