They’d been waiting at Aberdeen Airport when they suddenly got a shock email telling them to collect their baggage.

Travellers said there was chaos as queues formed everywhere.

And they were stunned when they discovered they couldn’t get into their hotel.

Hannah and two pals had got to the airport at about 5am, two hours before the planned take-off time.

They were anxiously waiting for news when the message arrived telling them they wouldn’t be going anywhere.

They eventually flew off at 4pm on Wednesday and are now making the most of their sunshine break.

Hannah, from Aberdeen, said: “We booked the holiday at the start of the year because we got a good deal.

“Then we started hearing about some other problems.”

Scots passengers have been hit with major problems as they’ve tried to fly off on holiday this summer.

They’re facing delays and cancellations as airlines struggle to cope with a catalogue of issues.

At Edinburgh Airport travellers claimed they had to crawl through the flap to get their baggage amid chaotic scenes.

A TUI spokeswoman said their flights are now operating as normal.

She added: “We’re sorry to those of our customers who have had their holidays impacted by delays and cancellations recently.
