OSCE asks Turkey for observers for Afghan elections

The OSCE is calling for observers and experts who could assist in ensuring that the Afghan elections are conducted held in conformity with the international standards. The OSCE also wants experts who can provide electoral education to the Afghan people.
The Turkish government is reportedly considering the OSCE’s call and has passed on the request to relevant state bodies.
One organisation that has already responded is the Higher Election Board (YSK), which said that it could not provide educational experts due to not having sufficient staff with foreign language skills.
The election in Afghanistan will be the first since the radical Islamist group the Taliban were overthrown by the US and coalition forces in 2002.
