Opel unveils new Frontera in Istanbul, signals focus on Turkish market – Turkiye Newspaper
German manufacturer Opel launched the global premiere of the New Frontera, embodying the first glimpses of its future design philosophy in Istanbul with a focus on Turkish markets.
The event, which brought together automotive journalists from around the world, saw Opel CEO Huettl praise Türkiye.
Opel is gearing up to strengthen its position in the B-SUV segment with the new Frontera. Challenging the dimensions of the C-SUV segment, the New Frontera will initially be available as a 5-seater, featuring 100 HP 48V hybrid and 300-kilometer range electric versions.
In the future, a seven -seater version will be added alongside a 136 HP 48V hybrid and a 400-kilometer range electric version. The new Frontera, with its striking design details, is planned to be available in our country in the fourth quarter of 2024.
During the global launch event held in Istanbul, Opel CEO Florian Huettl made significant statements about the brand and the Turkish market.
Huettl mentioned that after Germany and France, Türkiye is Opel’s third home, stating that they understand the sensitivities of Turkish users and prioritize customer satisfaction.
In 2023, we saw significant growth in many European markets. Looking at Europe as a whole, electric vehicles make up 20%, which is a significant percentage. In 2023, things started to fall into place in Türkiye. We saw a rapid rise in electric vehicles,” he said.
Huettl emphasized that Opel has an SUV model suitable for every taste and style, noting that they have observed a rising SUV trend in Türkiye as well.
“Our support for Türkiye will continue in every way. With competitive prices and features, the New Frontera will be offered to the Turkish market. Türkiye became Opel’s third-largest global market in 2023, after Germany and the U.K., which is a very important market for us. Customers know exactly what they want. We also want to grow in the Turkish market,” Huettl said.
Addressing a question about the aggressive growth of Chinese brands, Huettl said: “We like competition. We will offer the New Frontera to the market at very competitive prices. Opel customers own a German car and trust us.”
Continued Investments
Opel Türkiye General Manager Yigit Yantac, speaking at the meeting, drew attention to the brand’s intensive investments in Türkiye in recent years.
“We are always given priority, and for the past 2.5 years, our dealer investments have been ongoing at full speed. With 62 dealers and fully trained sales and service teams, we continue to grow. We started our training and charging infrastructure work for electric vehicles long ago, and today we are one of the most competent brands in the electric vehicle sector,” he concluded.
