"Nobody discusses whether or not Turkey be a member of EU"

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that, "nobody discusses whether or not Turkey will be a member of the European Union (EU) anymore. Those are overcome. People started to talk what will be done after negotiation process."

Erdogan returned to Turkey after completing his meetings in Britain.

Speaking at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport, Erdogan said British Prime Minister Tony Blair was abroad so that he met with Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs Lord Falconer.

Erdogan said that he and Falconer exchanged views on reform package and noted that, "they said they expended support to us in this process. We had the opportunity to discuss what kind of steps could be taken from now on."

Erdogan said he interviewed with many British media institutions and met with members of Turkish-British Chamber of Industry and Trade. Erdogan said he also met with the Turkish associations in Britain and representatives of Turkish Cypriots living in Britain.

Erdogan said "nobody discusses whether or not Turkey will be a member of the European Union (EU) anymore. Those are overcome. People started to talk what will be done after negotiation process. Those are related to recent Cyprus referendum. The attitude adopted by Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are very positive in this respect. You see that initiatives have started to lift isolation. Future is promising. We have seen this in Britain."
