New York: Cyprus negotiations extend one day
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas, Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat and Foreign Minister Serdar Denktas participated in the meeting. Greek Cypriot administration delegation included Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos as well as former Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides. UN delegation included Secretary General Kofi Annan, his special envoy to Cyprus Alvaro De Soto and Undersecretary-General Kieran Prendergast.
Firstly, Turkish Cypriot President Rauf Denktash departed from the meeting as saying only, "tommorow, at four o’clock."
Later, Greek leader Tassos Papadopulos left from UN headquarters and told reporters "we haven’t gotten a result at this stage, we will continue tommorow."
De Soto also responded questions of reporters while departing from the UN office. He evaluated the meeting as "constructive" and said the meeting would resume at 16,00 (USA time). He also added that no one would a detailed statement at current stage.
