New U.S. Requests

Basbug spoke to reporters at an international symposium concerning inspections in crisis regions from the perspective of Turkey, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU) and their impact on Turkey’s security.

When asked about the reuse of Incirlik base by U.S. forces, Basbug said that they received some U.S. requests in some subjects. General Staff handles American requests if they are within the framework of the Agreement. Basbug elaborated that the planes at Incirlik base could be used only for training purposes in accordance with the Agreement.
