Natural Gas Agreement Halts Thermal Electricity Production

Electricity production at thermal stations, which have long been operating at low capacity, was halted for three months. In addition, production at the Afsin-Elbistan thermal central station, which used to meet 14 percent of Turkey’s electricity needs, has been suspended. With two generators out of four at Afsin-Elbistan operating at 90 percent capacity, workers have taken the opportunity to go on vacation due to the pause in production.
