Musharraf Relates Palestinian Conflict to War on Teror

Musharraf, paying a visit to New York to meet with US President George W. Bush, told American Broadcasting Company (ABC) News that Pakistan is currently "involved at the moment in fighting terrorism frontally, the military perspective, the immediate response. But we are not addressing the root causes. And I always say the root cause is political disputes, poverty and illiteracy."

Continued the Pakistani president, "So I think those root causes are not being addressed, and I hope they are, otherwise we are not going to succeed. We may be winning battles, but we lose the war."
