Morocco’s Security Chief Visits Türkiye to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation


Abdellatif Hammouchi, Head of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST), began a working visit to Türkiye on Friday, leading a high-level delegation to the Internal Security Equipment Exhibition (IGEF 2025) in Ankara, held on Saturday and Sunday, according to a DGSN press release.

Hammouchi met with his Turkish counterpart, National Police Chief Mahmut Demirtaş, following an invitation by the country’s authorities. The two-day visit will focus on discussing ways to deepen bilateral security cooperation and enhance joint efforts to ensure stability and counter shared security threats.

Talks focused on challenges such as irregular migration and its links to organized crime, as well as police training and investment in human resources to prepare for future security demands. The two sides also addressed Morocco’s preparations for upcoming global events, including the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech in November 2025, the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup co-hosted with Portugal and Spain.

DGSN said that the meeting underscored aligned perspectives and a mutual commitment to strengthen cooperation and share knowledge in law enforcement and security

During the visit, Hammouchi also held talks with delegations from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia, exploring opportunities to elevate police partnerships and coordinate responses to common threats.

Hammouchi and his delegation toured the IGEF exhibition, which showcases cutting-edge technologies in internal security and defense. The Moroccan delegation reviewed new innovations in police equipment and services designed to boost efficiency in combating emerging criminal threats.
