More than one million tourists visit Cappadocia

NEVŞEHİR (AA) – A total of 1 million 162 thousand 176 Turkish and foreign tourists visited Cappadocia region in central Nevsehir province in 2003.

Nevsehir Museum Directorate officials said that 694 thousand 896 Turkish and 467 thousand 280 foreign tourists visited Goreme Open Air Museum, Goreme El Nazar Church, Zelve ruins, Cavusin Church, Gulsehir St. Jean Church and Tatlarin, Ozkonak, Kaymakli and Derinkuyu underground cities in Cappadocia region.

The number of Turkish tourists who visited the region increased, while the number of foreign tourists who came to Cappadocia region decreased in 2003.

In 2002, 564 thousand 262 Turkish and 697 thousand 408 foreign tourists had visited Cappadocia.
