More Foreign Tourists Visited Turkey in March

According to the State Institute of Statistics (DIE), a 74.4 percent increase was observed in foreign tourists preferring maritime lines while a 103.1 percent increase was seen among those preferring the railway. Meanwhile, the DIE registered a 56.2 percent increase in the number of tourists coming to Turkey via highway and a 58.3 increase in foreign tourists using airlines.

The dominant nationalities of these tourists were Germans at 24.8 percent, Bulgarians at 12.7 percent, Iranians at 6 percent, Russians at 5 percent, Dutch at 4.6 percent, and Greek at 4 percent.

The number of foreign tourist in the first quarter of the year reached 1,925,434 people compared to last year’s figure of 1,335,641.
