‘Mining Sector be Exempt from Privatization’
The report also included interesting suggestions on public investment. Requesting that the Mining Law Draft be scrutinized, it stated, "The inclusion of Boron to be opened to the private sector by indirect methods and the danger of raw boron mine materials of strategic quality being exported at low prices, should be taken into consideration."
The commission suggested that state-owned mines be revitalized rather than placed under the pressure of privatization. It also requested that the Assembly commission search for mines possessing strategic importance for Turkey, and that the dimensions of malpractice, occurring due to lack of supervision, be transferred to the Privatization Board.
