Militants Behead South Korean Hostage
South Korea rejected the demands of the captors to withdraw South Korean troops from Iraq, and instead pressed ahead with plans to send an extra 3,000 South Korean troops to Iraq.
Because of South Korea’s refusal to withdraw from Iraq, Al-Zarqawi’s men beheaded Kim Sun-il. A videocassette broadcast by Al-Jazerra displays the images of the kneeling hostage and four armed men while a voice says that the hostage was beheaded.
The South Korean administration confirmed the beheading and disclosed that US troops found the body of the victim somewhere between Bagdat (Baghdad) and Fallujah.
US President George W. Bush meanwhile condemned the incident. Bush said on Tuesday that he is certain South Korea will not be affected by the event and will deploy troops in Iraq. South Korea reportedly confirmed their plans to deploy troops.
