Man City boss Pep Guardiola expresses solidarity with children of Gaza

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed solidarity with the children of Gaza on Monday, voicing profound concern over Israel’s genocidal war in the enclave that has claimed more than 54,000 lives since October 2023 and rendered the territory uninhabitable.
Guardiola received an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester in a ceremony, in recognition of his contributions to the city both on and off the pitch.
During his acceptance speech, Guardiola said it is deeply painful to witness what is happening in Gaza, that it hurts his whole body, and emphasized that it’s not about ideology.
“It’s not about whether I’m right, or you’re wrong. Come on. It’s just about the love of life, about the care of your neighbor. Maybe we think that we see the boys and girls of 4 years old being killed by the bomb or being killed at the hospital because it’s not a hospital anymore. It’s not our business,” he added.
The 54-year-old stressed that every morning since the nightmare began in Gaza, he sees his own children when he wakes up, highlighting the emotional toll of the suffering of infants there.
“We can think about that. It’s not our business. But be careful. The next one will be ours. The next 4 or 5 years old kids will be ours. Sorry, but I see my kids when I wake up every morning since the nightmare started with the infants in Gaza. And I’m so scared. Maybe this image feels far away from where we are living now. And you might ask what we can do,” the Spanish manager added.
Under the helm of Guardiola, Manchester City became the first club to claim the English Premier League title four times in a row and the first to reach 100 points in one Premier League season.
He led City to win 18 major trophies in his eight full seasons, including six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, and a historic treble in 2022-2023 season.
