Malta defender Zach Muscat on the verge of Turkey’s Sanliurfarspor move – SportsDesk

Maltese defender Zach Muscat is hoping to continue his career in Turkey as he is on the brink of agreeing on a deal to join Sanliurfaspor in the second-tier, the Times of Malta can reveal.

The Malta international has been without a club since leaving Portugal’s Farense at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Muscat, 31, will be travelling to Turkey on Saturday morning to complete the transfer that would he see him play at Sanliurfaspor until the end of the season with an option for another year.

He is at the back of a spell at Portugal’s Farense, where he played 51 games, scoring 6 goals in the process. In addition, Muscat also played for Casa Pisa (61 appearances).

Muscat, 69 caps for Malta, is looking to return to the international fold after not being called up for the November international window.

Based in Urfa in southeastern Turkey, Sanliurfaspor are currently embroiled in a relegation fight as they sit 18th in the 20-team championship, with the last four teams dropping to the third-tier.

They will be in action this weekend when they host Istanbulspor.
