Mafia and the State

He asked the father:

How do you "convince" the state bureaucrats who should win which tender? Do you use "force?"
The father laughed and said:

No way, I only use "force against other bidders whom I do not want to win the tender if needed be.
How do you "convince" the bureaucrats then if you do not use "force?"
The father replied again:

You can’t use force against the state. She is always more powerful than you are. If you carry 10 guns they will carry 11. If you carry 11 they will carry 12!
Then, how do you manipulate these important tenders?
I am a partner with the bureaucrats that run the tenders. I share the revenue with them.
He then showed some envelopes to the journalist. The envelopes were full of cash.

The father said:

In fact today is payment day. My men will soon distribute the money to the related bureaucrats.
He added:

Two of the envelopes are also going to very well known and respected journalist.

An imminent Mafia boss-father named Sedat Peker has been followed by the police force for the last 6-months and police collected data and evidence that verified his many illegal activities.

Among the data collected were also his and his men’s phone contacts with various army commanders, judges, prosecutors and police chiefs.

***

But look what happened?

He and his men were arrested and then released during the first trial at the so called on-duty court!

The father said that "he is also very astonished that he was released!"

Then what?

The same court’s prosecutor objected the judge’s decision that said "there is not enough evidence for his arrest" and demanded that he be re-arrested.

The same court then released a new decision for his re-arrest.

*** As expected, the Father is now on the run and the poor police have to seek the man again after following him for 6-months.

***

The Minister of Justice acknowledged that it is very difficult to explain how he could be released and then re-arrested at the same court but also said that there are no technical problems in both decision.

In fact, the release was technically not wrong simply because the judge was not convinced that there was enough evidence for his arrest.

Recently, the Turkish papers have been reporting about people who were used by the National Intelligence Service (MIT) against Armenian or Kurdish terrorists while exiled because of their crimes. Those criminals later dealt with heroin smuggling and became quite influential.

In fact some of them had direct links with former presidents!
