LIVE — EURO 2024 Quarterfinals: England vs. Switzerland; Netherlands vs. Türkiye
The EURO 2024 quarterfinals conclude today as we find out the remaining half of the last four.
England vs. Switzerland (12PM EDT)
Is this the moment Gareth Southgate’s luck will finally run out? The charmed England manager has overseen a dreadful tournament so far despite his collection of top footballing stars, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane among them.
It took magic from Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham — and then Kane — to escape a disciplined Slovakia team in the Round of 16, but Switzerland are one of the most well-organized teams at this EUROs. They’ve put Germany to the test and defending champions Italy to the sword, and should not be considered underdogs in this matchup.
Netherlands vs. Türkiye (3PM EDT)
If you missed the Round of 16 matches that led to this matchup on Tuesday, you missed some of the best football played so far at this tournament.
It’s been 16 years since Türkiye has seen this amount of international success. But two astonishing Merih Demiral goals, obstinate defending, and end-to-end fireworks have sent Austria and Ralf Rangnick home earlier than expected — culminating in the most unbelievable save in the final seconds of the match. Romania played brave and tough against the Netherlands, but were finally undone by wave after wave of pressure as the game dragged on. This is anyone’s game.
