Large crowds attend Gallipoli memorial service in Turkey

As Middle East correspondent Mark Willacy reports from Gallipoli, the main address to the crowd was delivered by Defence Minister Robert Hill.

Braving cold winds and increased Turkish security several thousand Australians and New Zealanders gathered for the annual dawn service at Gallipoli. Addressing the crowd Defence Minister Robert Hill paid homage to the 8,700 Australians and 2,700 New Zealanders who lost their lives in the campaign. "AND ANOTHER ANZAC DAY COMES UPON US WE TURN TO THOSE IN THE SHADOWS. WE THANK YOU. WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU". The Australian Government had advised citizens to defer travel to Turkey because of possible terror attacks but despite the warnings.
