Kurdish fighters leave Syria’s Aleppo after days of clashes

Aleppo governor says the last fighters from the SDF have left the city after the Syrian army takes control of a Kurdish-majority neighbourhood.

The governor of Syria’s Aleppo says the last fighters from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have left the city after days of conflict.

Government forces have been coordinating the withdrawal of SDF fighters on buses out of Aleppo overnight.

It comes after the Syrian Army took over the Kurdish-majority neighbourhood of Sheikh Maqsoud.
