KUNA : GCC Chief: Turkiye-GCC economic side important for bolstering ties – Economics
Turkish-GCC Economic Forum

ISTANBUL, Nov 12 (KUNA) — The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Al-Budaiwi stressed on Sunday that the economy and investment strengthens the relationship between the GCC and Turkiye.
This came in a statement to KUNA, Al-Budaiwi added that he was briefed on the numbers and statistics that prove that this relationship needs to have all the elements available to continue its success, strengthen it, and activate it.
He said that there are two important elements for that to be achieved, firstly; Resuming talks between Turkey and the GCC countries regarding the free trade agreement.
“Secondly, the sixth meeting of the strategic discussion between Turkey and the GCC countries, the last of which was held in 2016, and there is an initial agreement to hold the meeting in Istanbul in the first quarter of next year,” he added.
He noted that the first Turkish-GCC Economic Forum is an important forum that serves the relations between the GCC countries and Turkey at all levels, and there is regional coordination between the two sides on several matters.
The Turkish Gulf Economic Forum kicked off earlier today in Istanbul, with the participation of Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investments Dr. Saad Al-Barrak, and a number of officials and executives from the GCC.
The forum aims to strengthen the relations between GCC countries and Turkiye and expand commercial trades between the two sides. (end)
