Korean Veterans: We Rescued Americans In Korea

Emphasizing that Turks fought side by side with Americans for 13 months, Daglioglu argued that Americans owe Turkish soldiers gratitude for saving their honor in Korea. He said that soldiers were sent to Korea for the benefit of humanity and world peace, and that the greatest sacrifice for these causes was made by Turkey. "In Korea, Turks were said to always be the leaders on the most difficult fronts."

Yusuf Altinsoy is another Korean War veteran. While recounting his fights at the front, side by side with the US troops, Altinsoy’s eyes fill with tears. Altinsoy said, "It is a grave shame that U.S. soldiers put sacks over Turkish soldiers’ heads, as if they were terrorists, and then detained them". Altinsoy fought in Korea for 12 months and seven days, beginning in 1951. "In the Korean War, wherever the important fronts were, Turkish soldiers were always put in the lead there."
