Kharzai Guarantees his Victory

Election authorities said that 95 percent of the votes have been counted and that Kharzai has garnered more than 50 percent of them. Kharzai could declare a victory by majority vote – 55.3 percent of those counted totaling 4,240, 041 – if the remaining votes are spread evenly among the other 17 candidates.

The United Nations (UN)-Afghan Election Commission stated that they would not declare a victor until they conclude their investigation into corruption allegations made by the other candidates.
