Kerry dissapoints Turks in US

The chairmen of four Turkish associations said in the letter that the friendship and alliance of the United States and Turkey had been successfully tested during major international crises, the Anatolia news agency said.

"We, as Americans of Turkish origin in the United States, are working to improve the current excellent relations as much as we work for the welfare and wealth of the United States," the letter was quoted as saying by Anatolia.

The chairmen of the Assembly of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA), the Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI), the Engineers and Scientists Association (MIM USA) and the ultranationalist Idealist Youth Organization said in the letter that Americans of Turkish descent would support a candidate who was aware of the importance of the relations between Turkey and the United States and who would improve ties between the two countries.

"We want to express our disappointment with your statements and promises for recognition of Armenian claims concerning a genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire during the First World War," the letter said.

Kerry’s spokesman, Mark Kitchens, had said in a written statement on Friday that the Democratic candidate supported recognition of the so-called Armenian genocide by the United States.
