Jones:"US would welcome Turkey help in Iraq"

September 3, 2003 admin-dominor

"I think any help that can be given to the very important efforts ongoing in Iraq would be welcome," he told reporters ahead of talks with Turkish Defence Minister Vecdi Gonul. Jones stressed his visit was to discuss NATO issues rather than to negotiate a possible Turkish military contribution to the US-led coalition in neighbouring Iraq. He had earlier met briefly here with army chief Hilmi Ozkok.
