Japan Inc. calls for Turkey trade deal to be tied up

IZMIR, Turkey — Japanese businesses are pushing for closer ties with Turkey, calling for both governments to conclude an Economic Partnership Agreement that has been under negotiation for almost a decade.

Turkey wants more favorable terms for some industrial and agricultural products, but Japan is said to be unwilling to open its farming sector. Still, both sides are aiming to wrap up talks next year to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
