It is Impossible for EU to say "No" to Turkey

Speaking to Mehmet Ali Birand on CNN-TURK Channel, Gul said that, "We shall do everything which we said we shall, in the Progress Report. The arrangements about Higher Radio-TV Board, language courses and Bureau of Accounts, will be passed this week. Big strategic issues are not subject to bargain."

He said , "This is not only the project of AKP, but also of CHP. Turkey is very close to receive a date from EU. We are at an irreversible point. They have already accepted this fact in their conscience."

DEP Case
Gul said that the trial of defendants under arrest damaged Turkey’s image. "This is an image problem. We fulfilled our duty on our part, by passing the laws for re-trial. From now on it is the job of the judicidiary. The problem is being aggravated, as the trial process prolonges," he said.

Cyprus
Stressing that May 1 was a very important date and that the negotiations in Cyprus will be based on the Annan Plan, he said that President Denktas has already digested this change of approach and "Denktas will be convincing, to the extent Papadopulous is."

He said "We are saying "Yes" to resume talks in Cyprus on the basis of the Annan Plan. Before saying anything we want to see what Greek Cypriots will say."

"The easy way was pursued so far in Cyprus. But there is nowhere to go now. Solving the problem benefints both Turkey and TRNC."

Gül explained the red lines of Turkey about Iraq: "We say "No" to an ethnic and religious federation in Iraq,"

U.S. Visit
About the U.S. visit of PM Erdogan, Gul said that "The thing we lived with U.S. remained in the past. Now everything is progressing at a much more advanced level. Our relations with U.S. are not limited with Iraq. We have many things to talk."
