Istanbul given boost for 2012 Olympic approval

In an internet poll organized by cnn.com and participated in by 74,678 people, Istanbul ranks first with nearly 33% of the total votes. Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and New York are a distant 2nd and 3rd respectively, each receiving around 18% of the votes. London, considered to be the most powerful rival of Istanbul, only received around 8% of the votes, as did Cuba. Paris, Leipzig (Germany), Moscow, and Madrid had poor showings in the poll, with each bringing in around 2-3% of the votes.
