Israelis do not travel to Türkiye – Francs Jeux

Direct consequence of the conflict between Israel and Hamas: no Israeli wrestler was able to go to the world Olympic qualifying tournament, the last chance to win a quota for the Paris 2024 Games. The competition has been taking place since Thursday, May 9 (until ‘to Sunday 12) in Istanbul, Turkey. Israel was supposed to send a delegation of five athletes, including Said Ilana Kratysh (photo above), silver medalist at the European Championships in 2015. None ultimately made the trip, following a decision by the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet). Last March, Israel’s National Security Council issued a warning against travel to Turkey, deeming the risk of terrorist threats against Israelis high.
