Israeli forces kill a Palestinian, injure and arrest others during raids in Nablus
ANKARA
The Israeli forces on Wednesday morning killed a young Palestinian man, injured and arrested others during raids in several areas of Nablus city in the northern occupied West Bank, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
An Israeli undercover special force infiltrated the Al-Ain refugee camp in western Nablus, and opened fire on a car, resulting in the death of Oday Adel Al-Qatouni, who was a passerby near the incident, the Palestinian broadcaster reported.
Following the incident, clashes erupted in the camp, with Israeli forces injuring three Palestinians.
Wafa added that the Israeli forces stormed into several homes and arrested several people in the camp.
The Israeli forces also stormed other areas in Nablus, including the Balata and Askar refugee camps and the Masaken al-Sha’abi neighborhood in eastern Nablus.
The raids came as the Israeli army has continued its military offensive in the northern West Bank since Jan. 21, killing over 70 Palestinians and displacing thousands, while the army also renewed deadly airstrikes on Gaza on Tuesday, which killed more than 400 people and injured hundreds, breaking a ceasefire deal with Hamas that took hold in January.
Tension has been running high across the occupied West Bank, where at least 937 Palestinians have been killed and over 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of the Gaza onslaught on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
In July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
