Israeli forces kill 3 Palestinians in West Bank refugee camp
RAMALLAH, Palestine
The Israeli army killed three Palestinians after besieging a house in the Al-Far’a refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank, local media reported Wednesday.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that “three citizens, whose identities have not yet been identified, were martyred Wednesday evening after the Israeli occupation army surrounded a house in Al-Far’a camp, south of Tubas.”
Citing Palestinian security sources, WAFA said that “three individuals were killed after the Israeli army targeted the besieged house with gunfire and shells, then seized their bodies.”
Medical sources told WAFA that ambulance crews entered the house after the Israeli forces withdrew and discovered human remains and traces of blood inside.
The local Al-Aqsa Voice Radio station published the names and photos of the three slain Palestinians on its Telegram channel, identifying them as Mohammed Khalil Barriya, Yousef Al-Asmar and Yousef Al-Tayeh.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that gunfire was heard around the besieged house, suggesting armed clashes between Israeli forces and the Palestinians trapped inside.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades said on their Telegram channel that their fighters engaged in clashes with Israeli forces in an attempt to break the siege on the house.
The Israeli army later admitted in a statement on X to killing the three Palestinians.
With this incident, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces has risen to 59 since the Israeli military expanded its assaults on refugee camps in the northern West Bank on Jan. 21.
The assault came amid rising tensions in the occupied West Bank, where at least 920 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 others injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of the Gaza war on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Health Ministry.
