Isolation should be ended to Activate Greeks
Speaking at Ercan Airport on his return from a visit to Turkey, Talat explained that Northern Cyprus and Turkey were always ready for a solution and added: ‘The important thing is to activate the Greek side. The best way of activating them is to end the isolation.’ Indicating that it was necessary to determine new policies in line with the decisions of December 17 Summit, Talat said they would work in cooperation with Ankara. Indicating that both Turkey and Northern Cyprus would be undertaking projects concerning the European Union (EU), Talat said, ‘There are pending regulations of direct aid and direct commerce. Also, there are changes of Green Line Regulations, which have been blocked by the Cypriot Greek side. Our enterprises concerning this issue still go on. We demanded Turkey’s support.’ Meanwhile, while Turkey came to the world agenda mostly through the news about the EU in 2004, mostly in the Cypriot Greek press, followed by that of France and Germany.
