Iraqi Kurds seize tanks, cannons and weapons after war

Kurdish factions in northern Iraq are aiming to keep the political autonomy they have enjoyed since after the 1991 Gulf War with the help of Turkey and to have their own parliament.

"According to gathered information, KDP and PUK peshmergas are carrying the weapons to Duhok, Zavita, Atrus, Spilik and Sulaimaniya," said Anatolia.

Turkey had warned the U.S. to expel the Kurdish peshmergas who poured into Mosul and Kirkuk, and the U.S. had to expel some of them. Turkey has refrained from sending its troops across the border, although it has repeatedly warned that it may do so if its security is threatened.

"Peshmergas have started to train some personnel for operation of the tanks in a camp in Zavita," said Anatolia.
