Iraqi Kurdishes return home after Saddam’s collapse

Every house has a sorrowful story in the village because Saddam killed one person from each home. Iraqi Kurdishes are hoping to have a new future which will born from ashes of the past full of sadness. However, all that remained from the past is these desolated buildings. Children are the most happinest ones among the villagers but mines have still created dangers for them. A teacher is trying to teach them how to protect themselves againts land mines.
The exiled villagers are expected to return home soon but Nevzat Halil Hamit is one of the first villagers who has recently backed to here. Nevzat was six when he left home but he is 34 years-old today. His three brothers were executed by the ex-president Saddam Hussein. He was passed sentence of death but released by Saddam’s pardon later. "It is impossible for me to forget those days. I was tortured for sixteen months without knowing what crime I committed. They tied my legs to the roof of room." told Nevzat while remembering the day on which his brothers were killed by Saddam’s troops in front of his eyes.
