Iraqi Council’s Turkish troop comment not nice

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan recieved today US delegation and he told them that Iraqi Governing Council’s statement that reacting Turkish troops in Iraq made Ankara uneasy, because forces would be deployed in the region temprorarily.

US Senator Mitch McConnell also said that they were gratefull to the Turkish Parliament’s decision to deploy its forces in Iraq and this decision would contribute to establishing a free Iraq.

During the meeting, US Senators told Erdogan their views on Afhganistan and Iraq. They stressed that the US could cooperate with Turkey in struggling with PKK/KADEK in northern Iraq.

As response, Erdogan stated that terrorism had no region and there had to be common struggling point against terrorism in anywhere.

Upon Senators asked where to Turkish troops could be deployed, Erdogan responded that Foreign Ministry and Office of General Staff was continuing negotiations and following it, a decision could be made.

Erdogan underlined that Iraqi Governing Council’s comments on Turkey’s troop decision made Ankara uneasy, because Turkish forces were not permanent in the region.
