Iraq to face up first Ramadan in post-Saddam era

After what they lived through, Iraqis wished they had embraced the fasting month with hope. However, it is impossible in the country where the economic hardships has driven the people to extraordinary search of living. The shopping kicked off in Baghdad’s al-Sharca market ahead of the month in which people will refrain from drinking and eating during the day. However,
the frequent visitors of the market are not satisfied with the prices. The complaints has manifested in the markets across the Iraqi capital. "the wide-range unemployment caused the current recession in the market. We have also leave our stores earlier for security reasons." told Ebu Yahya, a street seller. "When compared to old Ramadans prices of vegetables and dried
beans have been sharply increased. My salary is not enough to afford." told Saleh Ridha, an retired worker, as shopping in the market.
