Iran resumes gas exports to Turkey

After the repairs of the pipeline on Turkish soil, the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has resumed its exports. The energy flow reaches the Eurasian country through the facilities of Bazargan.

NIGC spokesman, Majid Bouhjarzadeh said BOTAS called pipeline inspection and repair of it as a reason to justify the traffic stop. In August, an explosion in the Turkish province of Agri (east) damaged a section of pipeline, disrupting the natural gas trade between both countries. In July, another explosion in the transmission line back into Iranian territory temporarily interrupted gas exports to Turkey.

According to recent reports, Iran exported an average of more than 30 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey per day, reflecting a daily growth of 11 million cubic meters compared to 2009.
