Internet Besieged by Sobig.F Virus

"This is a scary statistic. However, it is understood that future viruses will be more scarier."

The previous record belonged to the Klez virus, when 250,000 copies in 24 hours had been detected.

New ones on the way

The Sobig.F is the fifth version from the same generation of the Klez, and each version has a separate expiration date. Some of the viruses’ effective period expired last month. Reportedly, Sobig.F will expire on September 10th. Yet, according to the experts, Sobig.F will definitely still appear on September 11th. They say the virus does not harm data but causes a traffic jam on the Internet by invading computers and networks. The virus is capable of slowing down Internet traffic by invading 60 percent of e-mail traffic.
