IMF says pleased with Turkish program implementation

Dawson told a press conference in Washington that the Turkish economic program was on the right track, and the next review would start in end-September or early October.

Concerning a question on $8.5 billion US loan package for Turkey, Dawson said that the IMF had always been informed about this package, and the questions on this package should be asked to the US Treasury.

Dawson said that the US loan package was tied to the IMF’s approval, and what the IMF could do about this was to make public its opinions on Turkey’s adherence to its economic program.
