Husker transfer Berke Büyüktuncel to play for Turkey in FIBA EuroBasket tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska basketball’s Berke Büyüktuncel is taking the court this weekend with the Turkey National Team in the 2024 FIBA EuroBasket tournament.

Büyüktuncel – who spent his freshman year at UCLA – signed with Nebraska in June.

Turkey is in a group with Belgium, North Macedonia and Spain, and will play its group games starting Saturday in Gdynia, Poland.

The 6-foot-9 sophomore is an experienced player on the international stage, as he’s played in five previous national youth team tournaments.

Büyüktuncel averaged 4.9 points per game at UCLA while adding 2.7 rebounds.

Earlier this week, he was featured by FIBA as one of the players to watch in the tournament.

All the tournament games will be available on FIBA’s YouTube channel.
