Gul upbeat for Cyprus settlement by May

ANKARA – With the European Union prodding Ankara, that its EU aspirations may be derailed if a settlement on Cyprus was not reached by the May EU accession of the eastern Mediterranean island, Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul has signalled that Turkey may undertake a serious Cyprus initiative after the Dec. 14 polls in northern Turkish Cypriot territories.
