Gul: I Saw Draft in Favor of Turkey

Gul, speaking at the closing session of the International Symposium of the Organization of the Islamic Conference-European Union (OIC-EU) Joint Forum, reminded the audience about the rumors that Turkey would be granted "conditional talks".

"It is all a bunch of idle talk, yet it is a fundamental matter. One should discuss it carefully," said the foreign minister.

Shall I hang myself in Ataturk Square?

Gul also declared that the inclusion of the Greek Cypriot administered parts of EU member Cyprus into the Customs Union is purely a legal matter. He stressed that the decision need not be politicized.

"Keep in mind whose economy is more powerful and who sells more goods," remarked Gul.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat told the Greek Cypriot newspaper Sunday Mail that the Greek side needed to show that it was willing to take steps to resolve the Cyprus issue.

"Shall I hang myself in Ataturk Square? I have done everything I could for the Greek Cypriots."
