Gul gathers with members of American-Turkish Council
Speaking at the luncheon, Gul said that Turkey had been supporting vision of the United States about settlement of democracy, human rights and a structure based on free market economy in the Middle East.
Referring to developments in Turkish economy, Gul said that Turkey’s main target was to create an influential and stable economic atmosphere based on market economy.
"Turkey has been paying careful attention to targets of the economic program backed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). We have taken a series of measures to draw attention of foreign investors. The fifth review under the Stand-by deal between Turkey and the IMF is about to be completed. Turkey will not make any concessions from its financial target," he stressed.
Gul noted that his visit to the United States aimed at accelerating bilateral relations.
Responding questions about Turkey’s military contribution to stability force in Iraq, Gul said that the parliament would take the final decision on the issue.
