Gul: Federation will Cause Turmoil in Iraq

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Gul said that Turkey would be relieved to have another democratic nation in the region and would block any attempts to prevent this from happening. He said he observed the changing attitudes in Iraq and Kerkuk’s (Kirkuk) overall demographic structure.

"In Kirkuk, people have experienced great misery. Now it is time to heal all the wounds. Developments that could lead to further instability and violence should not be condoned. All Iraqis should expend their energy on ensuring that peace and democracy is established in Iraq," he said.
