Gul Briefs EU Ministers on Turkish Penal Code Draft

Gul attended the opening of the 59th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly and briefed the three European Union (EU) ministers about Turkey’s Penal Code (TCK) draft.

The ministers expressed to Gul that they expect the draft to be adopted as soon as possible.

Diplomatic sources inform that Gul requested the ministers’ support for Turkey’s membership to the EU, the Cyprus issue, and Turkey’s candidacy for temporary membership in the UN Security Council. The sources add that the TCK draft dominated the agenda in Gul’s bilateral meetings with his EU counterparts.
